The tutors
Dr Neel Burton BSc, MBBS, MRCPsych, MA (Phil), AKC
Neel trained at Guy’s, King’s, and St. Thomas’ School of Medicine in London. He specialised in psychiatry in Oxford, where he regularly tutors medical students and also runs the Oxford Wine Academy and the Meaning of Madness course. He is the author of two medical textbooks and has won a number of awards for his teaching, both at Oxford and nationally. His most recent book, which can be found here, is a prize-winning critique of the modern concept of success. Click here to see some of his other books, including The Meaning of Madness and Plato's Shadow.
Dr Chris Chopdar MA (Oxon), BM BCh (Oxon), MRCPsych
Chris studied at Lincoln College, Oxford. Whilst specialising in psychiatry, he represented the interests of trainees both at the level of his local Trust and at the level of the Oxford Deanery. He currently works as an independent psychiatrist and as a life coach, and, like Neel, also tutors medical students.
Neel and Chris have a real passion for teaching, and started Get into Medical School with three aims in mind:
• To guide, encourage, and enthuse applicants to medicine.
• To promote a level playing field amongst applicants, regardless of their educational, familial, or social backgrounds.
• To increase the success rates of those applicants dedicated to a career in medicine.
Please note that neither Neel or Chris is involved in any part of the actual short-listing process, and that the course is not affiliated to any college or university. Attending the course is not a guarantee of eventual success.
